Earlier Thursday, the Energy Information Administration said U.S. natural-gas inventories rose 97 billion cubic feet in the week ended Sept. 19. That was slightly above expectations of an increase between 92 bcf and 96 bcf, according to analysts polled by Platts. Natural-gas futures had been losing before the data.
October heating oil rose HOV4, +0.11% nearly a penny, or 0.3%, to $2.6958 a gallon.
