Ringgit opens higher against dollar

The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar on strong buying support for the local unit.

At 9.16 am, the local unit was quoted at 3.5675/5705 versus the greenback compared with 3.5790/5830 at 5 pm on Friday.
The domestic unit traded mostly mixed against other major currencies.

The local unit fell against the Singapore dollar to 2.6783/6808 from 2.6767/6811 on Friday but rose against the British pound to 5.4140/4204 from 5.4193/4268 previously.

The ringgit also depreciated against the yen to 2.9976/0014 from 2.9947/9986 but strengthened against the Euro to 3.8764/8804 from 3.8954/9008 on Friday.
