Genting Bhd and SapuraKencana Petroleum led the FBM KLCI slightly higher in early Wednesday trade, as investor sentiment perked up following the firmer overnight close on Wall Street.
At 9.25am, the KLCI was up 2.23 points or 0.13% to 1,724.47. Turnover was 136.99 million shares valued at RM91.65mil. There were 189 gainers, 118 losers and 180 counters unchanged.
BIMB Research expects the local market to remain sideways with slight downside bias due to lack of fresh catalysts with the index hovering around 1,720 to 1,725.
Retail investors were active on Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday and were net buyers at RM15.20mil as they picked up hammered down counters.
