South Korea's economy faces growing internal and external uncertainties, including from falling consumer spending following the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), Finance Minister Choi Kyung-hwan said on Friday.
"Activity in consumption and services has contracted due to MERS and it will be hard to rule out the chance it may affect the overall economy depending how long the outbreak lasts," Choi said during a meeting in Seoul.
Choi added exports have slumped due to sluggish growth in China and the global depreciation of the euro and yen , although South Korea is performing better than other countries around the world. - Bernama
