Tenaga, Sime drag KLCI further into the red

The FBM KLCI fell more than 14 points in late morning trade on Thursday, dragged down by losses in Tenaga Nasional, Sime Darby and telco stocks Maxis and DiGi.

At 11.23am, the KLCI was down 14.29 points or 0.83% to 1,711.27. Turnover was 671.34 million shares valued at RM504.53mil. Decliners beat advancers 436 to 186 while 270 counters unchanged.

Reuters reported Asian shares were mostly down while the dollar held firm on Thursday after strong US service-sector data and comments from a Fed governor boosted confidence in the economy and fanned expectations of a interest rate hike in September.
