Bursa Malaysia and other Asian markets turned risk averse on Wednesday on concerns about the volatile crude oil prices and creditworthiness of European banks.
At midday, the FBM KLCI fell 12.27 points or 0.73% to 1,650.16, dragged down by losses in Axiata and Genting group. Turnover was significantly lower than usual at 477.81 million shares valued at RM393.66mil.
The broader market was negative with decliners outnumbering advancers by nearly three to one. There were 454 losers to 166 gainers and 205 counters unchanged.
