Axiata Group Bhd is set to hold its decisive EGM on Wednesday afternoon where shareholders will decide on the telco's proposed acquisition of an 80% stake in Nepal’s number one mobile operator, Ncell Pte Ltd for US$1.365bil (RM5.67bil).
In December, Axiata announced it was buying a 100% stake in Reynolds Holdings Ltd from Telia Sonera UTA Holdings BV and SEA Telecom Investments BV for US$1.365bil. The acquisition of Reynolds gives Axiata an 80% stake in Ncell.
Axiata said in the circular to shareholders the proposed acquisition was in line with Axiata’s position as a regional market player in Emerging Asia.
