SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd reported a 57.6% drop in earnings ro RM110.31mil in the first quarter ended April 30, 2016 as the company anticipated the challenging environment to persist over the medium term.
The oil and gas heavyweight said on Tuesday the weaker earnings when compared with the RM260.70mil a year ago were mainly due to lower revenue from the engineering and construction and energy business segments.
Its revenue fell 14% to RM1.94bil from RM2.26bil a year ago. Its earnings per share were 1.85 sen compared with 4.37 sen a year ago.
