Dollar moderately higher as strong U.S. jobs data linger

The dollar was moderately higher against the yen in thin Asian trade on Monday, as the greenback maintained its firm tone after a strong U.S. jobs report.

The U.S. dollar USDJPY, +0.27%  was changing hands at ¥101.99 after touching a high of ¥102.01 in early trade. That compared with ¥101.81 late Friday in New York.

The WSJ Dollar Index BUXX, +0.01% a measure of the dollar against a basket of major currencies, was down 0.02% at 86.84.

Trading remained thin in Asian trade, with fewer participants, ranging from currency dealers to Japanese corporate and institutional players, in the market ahead of Japan’s summer holiday season from later this week.
