Public Bank, RHB Bank among top losers at midday

Public Bank and RHB Bank were the main decliners on Bursa Malaysia at Wednesday's break while the ringgit extended its slide against the major currencies amid the volatile crude oil prices.

At 12.30pm, the KLCI was down 8.85 points or 0.53% to 1,651.38. Turnover was 1.25 billion shares valued at RM646.71mil. There were 303 gainers, 342 losers and 352 counters unchanged.

Key Asian markets also fell with Hong Kong and the Nikkei 225 among the top losers. Reuters reported the yen pushed higher against a backdrop of disappointment with Japan's latest fiscal and monetary stimulus measures.
