Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar has been tasked to improve the corporate performance of the fund and its group of companies.
The fund is the controlling shareholder in Sime Darby Bhd, UMW Holdings Bhd and Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank), the bank in which Wahid had previously led as president and chief executive officer.
Wahid, in a statement yesterday, said his mandate also included enhancing bumiputra participation in the business and corporate sector as well as supporting the Government in providing more affordable homes for Malaysians.
Wahid will start his new role at PNB today.
