Perodua bank on newly launched Bezza to drive sales

Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) is “cautiously positive” about the sales outlook for the remainder of the year, as it is counting on the newly launched energy-efficient sedan, Bezza, to spur sales following a tough first half.

Sales in the first half of 2016 dropped 10% to 97,400 units from 108,502 units a year earlier, due to the poorer economic condition and weaker consumer sentiment, said president and chief executive officer Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh.

Despite a weaker first half generally for the local automotive sector, the availability of the Bezza had generated interest among carbuyers and the figures were promising for Perodua.
