The dollar gained against rivals Thursday, with investors waiting to see if U.S. jobs data will provide more evidence of economic strength.
In afternoon trading, the dollar was at 102.86 yen, up slightly from ¥102.79 late Wednesday. The euro was also little changed at $1.3388, down from $1.3397.
The ICE U.S. Dollar index DXY +0.05% was at 81.4460, up from 81.4320 Wednesday.
The Canadian dollar CADUSD -0.14% was up slightly at 91.73 cents Thursday, from 91.68 cents Wednesday evening. Gordon attributed the gain to profit-taking as investors reduced their exposure to higher-risk currencies ahead of the U.S. jobs report.
