January platinum PLF5, -0.73%  gained $2.90 to $1,269.20 an ounce, while December palladium PAZ4, -1.53%  rose $7.35, or 0.9%, to $800.70 an ounce. High-grade copper for December delivery HGZ4, -0.69%  edged up a penny to $3.10 a pound.
