As Greece fears fade, dollar volatility subsides

The dollar was little-changed Tuesday from its levels a day earlier as worries about Greece appeared to recede.

Nonetheless, the greenback is still about 2.3% above its mid-March year-to-date low against the euro.

The euro EURUSD, -0.07%  was worth $1.0737 in afternoon trade after a volatile session. The single currency was worth $1.0739 in afternoon trade in New York Monday.

The dollar edged higher against the yen USDJPY, -0.02%  at ¥119.64, compared with ¥119.26 Monday. Meanwhile, the pound GBPUSD, +0.05%  rose to $1.4929, compared with $1.4902 Monday.

In other currency trade, the Australian dollar AUDUSD, +0.61%   fell to 77.08 cents Tuesday afternoon in New York (early morning in Australia), compared with 77.25 cents Monday afternoon in New York.

The ICE dollar index DXY, +0.06% a measure of the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, was flat at 97.9530.
