The dollar drifted lower against the yen and the euro on Friday, as a lack of fresh trading cues made investors reluctant to take lopsided, strong positions ahead of the weekend.
The dollar USDJPY, -0.13% was at ¥118.82, versus a level of ¥119.28 late Thursday in New York.
The euro EURUSD, +0.45% was at $1.0787 from $1.0762, while the common currency EURJPY, +0.29% was at ¥128.16 from ¥127.98. The dollar posted its biggest decline against the euro in two weeks on Thursday, owing to weak U.S. data and dovish remarks from Federal Reserve officials.
The WSJ Dollar Index BUXX, -0.24% a measure of the dollar against a basket of major currencies, was down 0.1% at 86.66.
