The dollar was up against the yen in Asian trade Wednesday, with dip buying supporting the greenback, while slower growth in China weighed on the Australian dollar.
The U.S. dollar was at ¥119.65, compared with ¥119.40 late Tuesday in New York. The Australian dollar was at $0.7592 from $0.7625.
Ahead of a policy setting meeting by the European Central Bank later Wednesday, the euro was lower at $1.0627 from $1.0655.
The common currency also was at ¥127.17 against the yen, compared with ¥127.24 in New York.
The WSJ Dollar Index , a measure of the dollar against a basket of major currencies, was up 0.20% at 87.87.
