Asian equities opened mixed on Thursday, mirroring the finish on Wall Street amid fresh worries over the state of the US economy.
Overnight, US major indexes gave up early gains to close narrowly mixed as investors remained wary of climbing bond yields and flat retail sales for April. The tech-heavy Nasdaq settled 0.1 percent higher, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 finished marginally below the flatline.

Japan's Nikkei 225 opened down amid a broad-based slump.
Automakers remain in focus; Nissan Motor rose 3.4 percent despite announcing a below-view guidance for the current financial year on Wednesday. Toyota Motor announced a recall of just under 5 million Corolla, Vitz and other models worldwide on late Wednesday, leading its shares down 0.3 percent in early trade.
