Top European officials piled pressure on Athens and its creditors to reach a deal to keep the country in the eurozone, as the bloc's finance chiefs cautioned in increasingly stark terms they would only go so far to avert a Greek exit.
The warnings came as Greece's government submitted a set of proposed economic overhauls to eurozone officials late Thursday. It was also expected to present them to the country's parliament with the aim of securing a legislative mandate to negotiate a rescue deal over the weekend, Greek officials said.
Greece, which has pledged to start implementing some economic-policy reforms by next week as part of its request for a three-year bailout, plans to submit the list of proposed actions to a parliamentary vote on Friday, according to two senior Greek officials.
