The U.S. dollar edged lower against the yen on Monday, as demand for safe-haven assets was boosted after Greek voters overwhelmingly rejected conditions of a rescue package from creditors on Sunday. USD/JPY hit 121.89 during European morning trade, the pair’s lowest since June 30; the pair subsequently consolidated at 122.62, slipping 0.12%.Market sentiment was hit as the result of the Greek referendum added to doubts over the country’s future in the euro zone and deepened a standoff with its lenders. European officials have indicated that they will only continue to finance Greece in return for far-reaching economic reforms.
