U.S. dollar weakens against yen, euro ahead of Fed decision

The US dollar was lower against the yen and the euro in rangebound Asian trade Wednesday, as many investors remained reluctant to take lopsided positions ahead of the Federal Reserve policy-setting meeting.

The dollar USDJPY, -0.22%  was at ¥120.17 yen from its high of ¥120.47, as the U.S. currency failed to maintain its strength overnight. That compared with ¥120.17 late Wednesday in New York. The U.S. currency was also lower against the euro EURUSD, +0.1420%  , which gained to $1.1286 midday from $1.1269 late Tuesday.

The WSJ Dollar Index BUXX, -0.11% a measure of the dollar against a basket of major currencies, was down 0.13% at 88.23.
