Dollar retreats from more than 2½-month high vs. yen

The dollar retreated from its highest level against the yen in more than 2½ months Monday as U.S. equities sold off and investors braced for speeches from key Federal Reserve policy makers expected later in the week.

The buck traded at ¥123.16 USDJPY, +0.03% late Monday in New York, compared with ¥123.15 late Friday. Earlier in Monday’s session, the dollar traded as high as ¥121.62, its highest level against the Japanese currency since Aug. 21, according to FactSet.

The euro EURUSD, -0.0837%  traded at $1.0755 late Monday, compared with $1.0737 Friday.
