Malaysia’s industrial production index (IPI) rose stronger than expected in September by 5.1% from a year ago, exceeding estimates of an increase of between 2.9% and 3%.
The Statistics Department said on Monday the expansion was driven by positive growth in all indices -- manufacturing (5.6%), mining (4.4%) and electricity (2.6%).
It added the IPI in August 2015 was revised to 2.3% on-year due to the revision of electricity index to 2.3% based on revised data received from data provider.
