Maybank and Tenaga send KLCI to higher close

The FBM KLCI closed higher in late trade on Friday following a volatile session, on fund buying of Maybank, Tenaga Nasional and Genting Malaysia.

At 5pm, the KLCI was up 1.83 points or 0.11%  to 1,661.89 – after trading in a range of 1,657 to 1,663 – reflecting the cautious mood of investors after the uninspiring external markets and slump in commodity prices.

The ringgit firmed up against the US dollar to 4.2855 from the previous close of 4.3425 while it was steadier versus the pound sterling at 6.5407 from 6.6322 and it was at 3.0332 to the Singapore dollar from 3.0664.
