SHOPPERS at Chennai Silk Palace in Klang have the chance to catch a live demonstration of how the Kancheepuram saree is woven.
The store is said to be the first in the country to have the saree-weaving machine on display and in action.
The machine was imported from Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu, India, a city known for producing hand-loomed silk saree.
Chennai Silk proprietor V. Thanasegaran said the weaving machine was brought in to offer shoppers an opportunity to learn about the process of saree-weaving, without having to travel to India.
