WITH just four Malayan dollars and a small rented room in a double-storey building at No 1, Jalan Treacher, Dr Ho Kai Cheong concocted and brewed a pot of Ho Yan Hor herbal tea to be sold to Ipoh residents in 1945.
Setting up stall just outside the building, Ho sold every glass of the herbal tea within an hour.
Being the entrepreneur that he was, Ho expanded his business and created dry versions of his herbal tea, which were sold in sachets.
