Blue chips advanced on Bursa Malaysia at midday on Tuesday as sentiment perked up slightly in line with a firmer ringgit while Asian markets were mixed in reaction to China’s fourth quarter GDP results which missed estimates.
At 12.30pm, the KLCI was up 2.89 points or 0.18% to 1,625.53. Turnover was 1.07 billion shares valued at RM662.21mil.
The broader market was mixed with 361 gainers, 366 losers and 337 counters unchanged.
Earlier, China reported a softer GDP growth of 6.8% for the fourth quarter of 2015. For the full year, China’s GDP increased 6.9%, the least annual growth since 1990 but in line with the Chinese government’s target of about 7%, Bloomberg reported.
