Mida optimistic of downstream O&G sector

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) remains optimistic of the growth potential of the downstream oil and gas industry, given the applications received for RM13.6 billion worth of such projects in the first quarter of the year.

Deputy chief executive officer Datuk N. Rajendran said the applications included those from Japan and China.

"We expect the trend in the downstream sector to remain positive this year, especially driven by Petronas' Pengerang Integrated Complex," he told a press conference on the third day of the Offshore Technology Conference Asia 2016 in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
