KLCI falls at midday as investors take profit

The FBM KLCI fell at midday break on Tuesday on profit-taking activity amid losses in regional markets due to the overnight slump on Wall Street.

Blue chips such as Maybank and Genting fell 9 sen and 20 sen each to RM9.04 and RM9.62 respectively, dragging the index down by 1.4 and 1.2 points each.

At 12.30pm, the KLCI was down 4.8 points or 0.28% to 1,720.44. Turnover was 836.28 million shares valued at RM793.34mil. There were 426 losers against 293 gainers while 315 counters remain unchanged.

Asian shares fell in early trade on Tuesday, pushed down by losses on Wall Street as crude oil prices slumped.
