Blue chips climbed on Thursday on fund buying of Maybank and Public Bank while a recovery in crude oil gave support to the ringgit as foreigners upped their holdings of sovereign and corporate debt
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 3.68 points or 0.21% to 1,720.69. Turnover was 766.40 million shares valued at RM898.76mil. There were 335 gainers, 341 losers and 357 counters unchanged.
Bloomberg reported holdings of sovereign and corporate debt climbed to RM226.6bil in March from RM215.1bil in February, according to central bank data.
