The ringgit opened higher versus the US dollar today on positive external conditions that boosted the buying of the local note, dealers said.
The ringgit opened today's trading at 3.8900/8970 against the greenback, from last Friday's 3.9000/9050.
A dealer said most of the emerging currencies stayed on the sidelines on the first day of the week, but the yen consolidated a week of steady gains which saw it rose to the highs that have not been since 2014.
The local note was traded higher against all major currencies except the yen, where it declined to 3.6022/6103 from 3.5796/5852 last Friday.
