CIMB and Petronas related stocks helped shore up the FBM KLCI at midday on Friday amid a weakening broader market despite the rebound in the ringgit.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 1.09 points or 0.07% to 1,634.85. Turnover was 919.25 million shares valued at RM666.48mil. There were 291 gainers, 367 losers and 347 stocks unchanged.
The ringgit recovered from the previous day's losses. It rose to 4.0778 to the US dollar from 4.0820 the previous day; it was higher against the pound sterling at 5.9517 from 5.9818 and advanced against the Singapore dollar to 2.9556 from 2.9620 while it edged up against the euro to 4.5690 from 4.5817.
