AirAsia Bhd group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes is riding on the exuberance of the aircraft leasing business to ponder on a deal worth US$1bil for its wholly-owned aircraft leasing company Asia Aviation Capital (AAC), which owns 43 aircraft and will add some fuel-efficient A320neos to its list.
The latest deal in the aircraft leasing business was the listing of Singapore-based BOC Aviation Ltd on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange this week, which had fetched valuations of about US$3.8bil.
It is the biggest lessor of planes in the region, owning and managing 270 aircraft and making profits in each of its 22-year history.
