Meanwhile, the British pound climbed back from sharp losses the prior day, as fresh polls indicated a narrow lead for a vote to remain in the European Union in the upcoming referendum.
The U.S. dollar USDJPY, +0.24% was changing hands at ¥107.82, after touching ¥107.89 earlier in the session. This compares with ¥107.57 late Monday in New York.

The euro EURUSD, +0.0881% was unchanged at $1.1356. The common currency EURJPY, +0.34% was at ¥122.34, from ¥122.13.
