The yen was flat against the dollar and the euro during Asian trade Friday, after soaring on diminishing hopes for aggressive monetary easing by Tokyo.
The U.S. dollar USDJPY, +0.29% changing hands at ¥105.81, compared with ¥105.82 late Thursday in New York.
The greenback had fallen about 2% against the yen Thursday to ¥105.41, erasing much of gains earlier this week, as comments by Bank of Japan Gov. Haruhiko Kuroda receded hopes for ‘helicopter money’, an aggressive stimulus in which the central bank prints money explicitly to finance expanded government spending or tax cuts.
