Hong Kong shares edged up in the first few minutes of trade Monday after a top Federal Reserve official talked up the US economy, while investors await a key speech by the central bank's head at the end of the week.
The Hang Seng Index added 0.18 per cent, or 40.28 points, to 22,977.50.
And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was flat, dipping 0.72 points to 3,107.38, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, added 0.03 per cent, or 0.65 points, to 2,045.35.
