The dollar was flat against the yen and the euro during Asian trade Friday, given fewer market players in Tokyo due to Japanese traditional summer holiday season.
The greenback USDJPY, +0.07% was changing hands at ¥102.01 after hitting as high as ¥102.21 in the mid-morning trade. That compared with ¥101.96 late Thursday in New York.
The euro EURUSD, -0.0090% was also trading at $1.1139 midday, almost unchanged from late Thursday.

The WSJ Dollar Index BUXX, +0.05% a measure of the dollar against a basket of major currencies, was up 0.01% at 86.45.
