The dollar came under selling pressure during Asian trade on Wednesday, amid thin trading volume and Japan’s upcoming summer holiday season exaggerating the magnitude of decline.
The U.S. dollar USDJPY, -0.47% weakened to as low as ¥101.16 in the morning session before regaining slightly to ¥101.27. That compared with ¥101.90 late Tuesday in New York.
The pound GBPUSD, +0.4230% advanced to $1.3063 midday from $1.3001, while the euro EURUSD, +0.2968% gained to $1.1152 from $1.1117.
