ONCE again, the dismantling of the competitive bidding process for the awarding of power plant projects is evident.
Two weeks ago, the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry (KeTTHA) gave a direct award to Tadmax Resources Bhd to develop a new 1,000-MW combined cycle gas-fired power plant in Pulau Indah, Selangor.
In the last two years, this is the third time a company has been awarded a power plant project directly.
KeTTHA, which oversees the energy policies of the country, said that Tadmax was chosen due to it having a piece of land in Pulau Indah deemed suitable to build the power plant.
