KLCI slips as ringgit weakens to 4.10 to US$

The Malaysian stock market got off to a nervous start on Monday with the FBM KLCI slumping more than 10 points on extended selling pressure from the previous week.

At 9.12am, the KLCI was down 6.12 points or 0.38% to 1,590.70, but off the early low of 1,585. Turnover was 121.66 million shares valued at 42mil. There were 67 gainers versus 249 losers.

The ringgit lost more ground against the US dollar to slump to 4.1045 from the previous close of 4.0805 -- again a fresh low since 1998.
