The FBM KLCI climbed nearly nine points at midday on Monday, underpinned by gains in Tenaga, Sime Darby and Petronas Dagangan while the ringgit firmed up against the US dollar.
At midday, the KLCI was up 8.92 points or 0.56% to 1,612.52. Turnover was 974.34 million shares valued at RM648.98mil. The broader market weakened as decliners beat advancers 387 to 238.
The ringgit was at 4.3085 to the US dollar from the previous close of 4.3168 while its weakened against the pound sterling and Singapore dollar. It was quoted at 6.6515 to the pound from the previous close of 6.6489 and it was at 3.0546 to the Singapore unit.
