KLCI extends losses at midday, down more than 8 points

The FBM KLCI extended its losses at midday on Friday and fell more than eight points weighed by financial institutions as the ringgit continued its deline, amidst a mixed regional market.

At 12.30pm, the KLCI fell 8.23 points to 1,605.79. Turnover was 1.36 billion shares valued at RM904.8mil. There were 378 gainers, 291 decliners and 295 counters unchanged.

Reuters reported Asian shares rose on Friday following gains on Wall Street, while the dollar firmed after facing pressure from a rise in the yuan, but gains were capped by uncertainty over whether the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates next week.
