Maybank, CIMB, Genting higher at midday

Fund nibbling of index linked stocks Maybank, CIMB and Genting Bhd saw the FBM KLCI climbing nearly five points at midday on Wednesday as sentiment perked up in line with the key regional markets.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 4.98 points or 0.3% to 1,682.54. Turnover was 1.57 billion shares valued at RM1.14bil. There were 429 gainers, 328 losers and 330 stocks unchanged.

The ringgit firmed up against the US dollar, pound sterling and the Singapore dollar. At midday, it was at 4.2630 to the US$ from the previous close of 4.2880 while it was quoted at 6.5730 to the pound from 6.6105 and against the Singapore unit, it was at 3.0558 from 3.0682.
