The dollar remained under pressure on Thursday in Asia as concerns lingered over the U.S. economic outlook ahead of an expected rate increase by the U.S. Federal Reserve at its policy meeting next week.The dollar USDJPY, +0.27% was at ¥121.65, compared to ¥121.43 late Wednesday in New York, according to EBS. The euro EURUSD, -0.2812% was at $1.0994, compared to $1.1025.
The Australian dollar AUDUSD, +0.9407% rose to $0.7279 from $0.7229 after stronger-than-expected Australian jobs data.
Currency trading may be choppy toward the year end because of lower liquidity in the market and ahead of the major Federal Reserve meeting, Tokyo dealers said.
