No price war seen among glovemakers due to ringgit rebound, says Supermax

The recent rebound of the ringgit may not trigger a price war among glove manufacturers, according to Supermax Corp Bhd group managing director Datuk Seri Stanley Thai.

Speaking to reporters at a press briefing at the Invest Malaysia Kuala Lumpur 2016 conference, Thai said in the last two months manufacturers were increasing prices due to the strengthening of the ringgit and higher cost of raw materials.

"Price of latex may go up to USD1,400 per tonne in May from USD1,120 per tonne now.

"Nitrile latex is also likely to go up from USD960 per tonne now to USD1,100 per tonne," said Thai.
