The ringgit opened easier against the US dollar in early trade due to mild profit taking, a dealer said.
At 9 am, the local currency was quoted at 3.7665/7695 against 3.7480/7530 yesterday.
The dealer said some selling emerged as investors booked profits after yesterday's gains.
The ringgit was traded mostly lower against other major currencies.
It depreciated versus the Singapore dollar to 2.7855/7879 from 2.7831/7876 on Wednesday, fell against the yen to 3.0525/0559 from yesterday's 3.0514/0557 and weakened against the pound sterling to 5.8780/8831 from 5.8697/8794.
