Gold futures score best settlement in 2 months

Gold futures finished Wednesday at their best level in about two months as global tensions sparked a flight to haven assets.

February gold GCG6, +0.71%  gained $13.50, or 1.3%, to settle at $1,091.90 an ounce on Comex. The precious metal recorded three straight sessions of advances and saw its best closing level since Nov. 5, when it settled above $1,100, according to FactSet data.

That development comes amid growing strife in the Middle East, between Iran and Saudi Arabia and fears of an economic slowdown in China—the world’s second largest economy and the largest importer of metals.
